Happy Days

Today I ordered my first part that was partially funded by tshirt sales and donations. It is the rear fender that looks like this one only the cut out for the right side drive is already cut out.

And here is a example of it on a completed bike. I am going to try and roll it back a bit further if I can. And I promise, although no choice has been made, it will not be black. Nothing against black mind you but the vice president of design and style(see previous posts) demands brightness possibly a lime green candy over gold. But that's neither here nor there at this point!

A HUGE thank you to everyone that has supported this effort so far. Your generosity is really helping this project to move forward at a faster pace. Now that the frame is finally home, and I know what I am shopping for, I hope to accelerate the pace a bit more still. Thanks again!

One For King Richard

Here's one for my friend Richard. Happy Halloween!!

Contest Update!

While doing a little research of my own and trying on my own behalf to spread the word about my blog I found out that free email services like hotmail and such limit the number of recipients you can send to in one 24 hr period in an attempt to stop spamming. So anyone interested in entering the contest should probably use a account they pay for through their ISP. Just a little info now get out there and have at it :)If it turns out that all email accounts limit the number of recipients someone let me know and I will come up with something different!

Finally I Get It...I Think

Here is a link to the blog of Cyril Huze a very well known custom bike builder. It is a interesting article on how the U.S. tax system works. Presented in a way us blue collar types can understand. Just click on the picture, but don't forget to come back here!

Have You Ever....

Once again a random smattering of words can bring up the oddest pictures from google images. Here is my latest acquisition. Don't forget to get started on those emails for the contest!

Spread The Word Contest

Ok everyone here is a little contest to spread the word about your favorite blog. What I would like is for all my readers to send a email out to everyone they know w/a working link to my blog. Something like check out this killer blog at www.bustedwrench.blogspot.com. Include the email address tshirt@gmx.com that is me; I will then count all the email addresses from the email. The one with the most recipients will win a value t shirt from my cafe press store. If you would like to put the number of people you sent the email to in the email to save me some counting that would be fine. I will still double check but it will make things easier.
A quick note to my wonderful co workers, who have been immensely supportive of my blog , lets not send emails to each other. We all know about the blog and we will just clutter up each others email accounts. Other than that its game on, anyone and everyone is welcome to play and is fair game. If you happen to know someone famous and include them in the email, point it out to me,and if I am suitably impressed I may give out a prize for that also.
This little contest will run until midnight November 3rd. A week from today.
Now for the disclaimers. I can't count so I won't be held responsible for miscounts, I will do my best. Also I highly recommend adding the final count to the email as I have no idea how many addresses will be displayed by my email account. I am also not responsible for lost or misdirected emails or emails that disappear into the depths of Internet hell, it happens and its not my fault:) Lastly, the email addresses will not be stored, sold, or spammed by me. You have my word I will count them then delete them. They will never hear from me or anyone associated w/me. Good luck and have fun!!!!!
Now, if you are a hermit like me and don't have a large contact list, you can just bypass the whole contest thing and get your shirt here...... www.cafepress.com/bustedwrench . Happy Emailing and good luck!

Home Security 101

With the attempted break in of the previous week I thought I would share some basic philosophies on home security. Somewhere I read once that good home security was made up in layers and I whole heartily agreed and have maintained that belief ever since.

A well built and installed door lock. Yes the jamb is shattered but whoever attempted to break in spent 5 solid minutes kicking at this door and it held.

The second layer of security is 110lbs of pit bulls. You can't beat them for fearlessness and loyalty. Ginger is the small tan one at 40 lbs and about 8% body fat the rest is muscle and teeth. The dark one is Debo 70 lbs of loyalty. He may not know what he is biting but if his sister is biting it its good enough for him.

And finally if all else fails the Ruger in .40 cal will do the trick.
Notice nowhere in my home security system is the phrase "dials 911". Lets face it the police are out numbered under paid and out gunned. Take care of yourself. However, at some point it will be necessary to call 911, who else is going to remove the body?

Joke Of The Whenever......

Now don't get me wrong I love the Marines. There is no better group of people but this is a good joke at their expense....

  • On some air bases the Air Force is on one side of the field and civilian aircraft use the other side of the field, with the control tower in the middle. One day the tower received a call from an aircraft asking, "What time is it?" The tower responded, "Who is calling?" The aircraft replied, "What difference does it make?" The tower replied, "It makes a lot of difference. If it is an American Airlines flight, it is 3 o'clock. If it is an Air Force plane, it is 1500 hours. If it is a Navy aircraft, it is 6 bells. If it is an Army aircraft, the big hand is on the 12 and the little hand is on the 3. If it is a Marine Corps aircraft, it's Thursday afternoon."

Don't Forget To Donate...the sanity you save may be mine.
